Dynamic Field Database — Connect Tickets to External Databases

Connects Znuny dynamic fields to external databases — search, select, and display values from any SQL data source directly within your tickets.

Dynamic Field Database extends Znuny with two powerful dynamic field types — Database (Dropdown) and Database (Multiselect) — that let agents query and attach values from any SQL-accessible database directly within tickets.

Instead of manually copying data or switching between systems, agents simply start typing into an autocomplete field. Znuny queries the connected database in real time and presents matching records for selection. Once a value is selected, it is stored in the ticket and automatically resolved against the source database whenever the ticket is displayed — ensuring agents always see the most current information.

Key capabilities:

A configurable details view lets agents inspect the full database record behind a selected value by clicking a question mark icon next to the field. The detail view displays all configured columns as a table or list — ideal for quickly verifying related data without leaving the ticket.

The add-on supports filling additional dynamic fields automatically: when an agent selects a value, related columns from the same database record can be written into other dynamic fields on the ticket — eliminating redundant lookups and manual data entry.

Dynamic WHERE clauses bring context-aware filtering to the field. Searches can be narrowed based on current ticket properties such as queue, customer, owner, priority, service, or SLA — as well as the values of other dynamic fields. This means the set of selectable values adapts automatically to the ticket context.

Multiple display and output configurations ensure the field integrates seamlessly across the platform. Columns shown during autocomplete, in ticket zoom, and in notifications or templates can all be configured independently, with output formatting options including comma-separated, custom separator, line break, and list styles.

The add-on connects to any database reachable via DBI or ODBC, including MySQL, MariaDB, PostgreSQL, Oracle, and Microsoft SQL Server, making it a flexible bridge between Znuny and enterprise data sources such as CMDBs, asset registries, ERP systems, or custom business databases.
